The works of Gabriele Donelli

      I very much appreciate Gabriele Donelli painting work. It drew my attention with values that are extremely important to me : originality and an apparent simplicity of form. Apparent, because behind, seemingly, modest form hides a great intuitive sensitivity to the surrounding reality. The simple, austere drawing is a structural synthesis, keeping in check the sensual color combinations, which, also only seemingly, have a decorative value. The simplicity of colors and construction create an extremely saturated painterly reality, synthesizing it into a convincing artist message. The levity and, at the same time , density of this message determine its originality.

     The artistic effect is similar to the rare literary skill of encapsulating the content of a long paragraph in a single sentence. This sensual and decorative syntheticity freh, even, despite the author's age, youthful. It is also uniquely approachable, not separating itself fom the viewer with the complexity of painting technique or symbolism  of meaning. It is wits great joy that I welcome each new painting by Gabriele. His work is based on an artistically compelling affirmation of reality , which passes on to the viewer. It is very close to me, because the category of portraiture.  Evidencing a unique, even intuitive sensitivity to the image of the human psyche hidden under the layer of physiognomy, holds a special place in it.
