PAINTINGS AS A SYMBOL OF THE ACTUAL AS DEPICTED BY THE ARTIST VALLYKA

Between brush strokes and colors, the paintings of artist Giuliana Morandini (aka Vallyka) reveal a tight dialectic method, where the images capture the mysteries of life, while the painting appears intensely introspective in the existential reflection, communicating emotions and feelings. Thus, the poetics of the imaginary were born, in which the brush stroke that delimits the color displays a strong symbolic quotient. That's why the splendid figurative narrative of Vallyka is consistently addressed to the symbolic transfiguration of what is real, linked to German expressionism, while the characters inside her mind populate her evocative world in this chromatic alchemy, where pathos flows. Just the vision of imaginary faces is enough, resembling mysterious masks, alluding to the "wickedness of the world", or the desolation of a black serpent, towards the meaning of "original sin", where the primary symbolism is applied with a determined will to reveal meanings and moods. This chromatic language pervades each of her paintings, offering metaphors, although I would like to say moral apologists, where the tension towards the dream and the enigma is enthralling. Vallyka admirably succeeds in combining her dream escape with a sort of extreme intellectual lucidity. Ideally, how could you not want to be a part of this surreal journey? On the contrary: from the perfect union, between fantasy and rationality in the convergence of an apparent dichotomy, a new "unreal reality" is born, which leads us into an adventurous daydream: her art conveys a message of beauty and spirituality.
