Fragments of a Tuesday, Where Sleep Dissolves
Descrizione
Mixed media: acrylic, watercolor, enamel, etc., and collage on fabric.
Size: 53 cm height x 70 cm width.
I used various materials such as small collages and various paints to compose this work. All on a repurposed fabric. The painting is shipped unframed in a roll for easier transport.
My canvases are always full of eyes floating through space. The gaze is an object that reminds us that we are always seen by the Other. This "visual omnipresence" symbolizes guilt and the constant search for recognition and approval. The subject on the canvas is not alone; he is observed by fragments of himself.Lips, eyes, hands, homunculi, and the chaotic background complete the dreamlike scene.
An environment where the playful and the terrifying coexist. The small, colorful figures that seem to dance or flee in the background represent the inner crowds, the various facets of our personality that populate the psyche, acting autonomously while the central conflict unfolds.
This work stages a fantasy of subjugation and liberation. The contrast between the colorful and authoritarian figure and the gray/fragile figure points to an internal struggle between the parts of the Self that try to maintain order and those that feel subjugated by their own instincts or by external demands.
