Dante pastels from the exhibition in Poppi, Arezzo Italy

The artist's stroke is sharp and quick, it gives dynamism and movement to the scene. The movement is also that of light, of wind, of the souls That appear among the colors of nature: that faces can barely be espied, that emerges from the leaves of trees, or among the reflections in the water. The emotional movement is revealed in postures, in gestures. Often the scene appears as a vision: soft, ethereal bodies are reminiscent of the intense protagonists of Blake's paintings, where the otherworldly is present in all its power. The use of color helps to create the evocative atmosphere of the drawings, which have communicative and narrative power. The light and shadow, then, emphasize the symbolic significance of the Represented scenes.

Some works especially recall the fairy tale world; seem like the places "thresholds" that lead into yet other places, evoking childhood fears and curiosities; with their colors (the greens are reminiscent of certain paintings by Monet, as well, and creating a playful circle) These works invite us to look beyond, to go beyond. The painter is part of the vision, in the privileged point from Dante which views the landscape on His Way.
