Work inspired by the legendary Irish song Molly Malone which tells about a fish seller. Some said that Molly would have been a fishmonger during the day and a prostitute at night, while others said she was one of the few decent shopkeepers in Dublin. According to the song, Molly died young of a fever, and since then her ghost has roamed the broad and narrow streets of Dublin, shouting "cockles and mussels, alive, alive, oh"
