Katia Cornini - contemporary paintress

I was born in Fidenza on 21 April 1983. From an early age I showed interest and talent in drawing and painting, particularly on walls. In 2002 I obtained a diploma from the Paolo Toschi Art Institute in Parma in painting and pictorial decoration. I attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Bologna for a short period in the pictorial field but I decided to suspend attendance due to health problems. I worked as a decorator for a few years and learned wall painting techniques. I hold painting, fresco and mosaic workshops in schools and at important places such as the Fontanellato Castle and the Palazzo del Vescovado in Parma. I then decided to become an educator and suspended my painting activity for several years. In 2020 the desire to paint returns. I start painting on the wall, the pictorial surface on which I feel most comfortable because it is firm, solid and wide. The will to make paintings and the need to paint prevails over the fear of not succeeding; so I finally decide to dedicate myself completely to art. I paint my children first, the most important people in my life. My painting is a mix of realistic and abstract; with bright shapes and colors in contrast with each other and with the line that encloses every detail. The forest with all its components is a great source of inspiration and there is a desire to put on canvas emotions, sensations and feelings that come from nature and the small discoveries that are made in it. My paintings are meticulously detailed and at a certain point I have to force myself to suspend the painting activity to avoid ruining the work. I want to give visibility to things that are not seen, hidden or little known. I want to bring the viewer to relive those emotions of harmony, joy and serenity of childhood. The majestic nature with all its delicate balances is expressed in every form. The apparent simplicity of the composition turns out to be complex if you look at it carefully and grasp every little detail. The pictorial delicacy that distinguishes me is accompanied by the use of bright colors in contrast with each other, enclosed by lines that mark the boundaries and give movement. Each painting is meticulously prepared with preparatory sketches and the compositions are carefully studied through aesthetic and symbolic research until the end of production.
