IN NEW YORK THE ART OF ANTONINO SIRAGUSA

Alongside Banksy, Keith Haring, Damien Hirst, Takashi Murakami, and Mr. Brainwash, there is also Antonino Siragusa, a Sicilian artist born in Messina, who exhibits his artworks at the prestigious “Lux Contemporary” Art Gallery in New York.

His conceptual painting “Headphones,” on display in the heart of Manhattan, depicting a pair of headphones in a minimalist/street art style, is interpreted differently depending on whether it’s viewed through the innocent eyes of a child or those of an adult.

The piece’s tagline (part of the “Malice” collection) reads: “Malice is in the eye of the beholder.”

The artist, who is also the creator of the painting “Vandalize this,” uses provocation to prompt reflection on a reality that is never objective but rather filtered by the observer, dismantling classical and schematic societal configurations.

Gradiated in Philosophy, Antonino Siragusa is a multidisciplinary and brilliant contemporary artist: a multi-instrumentalist musician, painter, photographer, and videomaker, he’s able to play the complex language of jazz or to paint in impressionistic and abstract styles, or to create “ready-made” conceptual art.
