Description

Life is a continuous transition: dreams and reality; sleep and wake; life and death. Confronted with each other, they seem difficult to reconcile, as if dividing from an invisible line. Thus is explained the title of the work: White line between conscious and unconscious. A white line divides the picture into two well-defined parts, deliberately painted in different ways. The upper left part represents the unconscious, the dream, the unpredictable. Free and circular brushes represent the ego in its full freedom without the constraints imposed by society. A chaos that is, however, pleasing, like a liberation from everyday worries that are instead represented on the opposite side. In the lower right there is this everyday life: work, family, home. The choice of straight and continuous lines represents the continuity that comes from the moment we wake up until we get back to bed. This contrast between sleep and wakefulness is, however, not tormented but rather a necessary transition that is completed and weighed. The colors (blue, pink, blue, white) go from one side to the other of the canvas with different shapes but with a certain uniformity that makes the picture well-balanced and gives those who look at it a feeling of peace and quiet, just like the one you experience when you wake up after a long sleep.
