Description

During the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries the ancient popular fishing village of Santa

Lucia - located between the beach of Chiaia and the rest of the city - is affirmed in the collective imagination of Neapolitans and travelers as one of the places most full of emblematic meanings, so much so that

rise to one of the most relevant topoi of Neapolitan life.

The promenade, between the Hôtel de Rome in the north and the Punta Platamonica di Chiatamone in the south,

it corresponds to the ancient Provencal port and behind it is the perched fishing village

called Pallonetto di Santa Lucia consisting of a thick maze of alleys that go up to Monte Echio (or

Mount of God).
