"Shadow and Light" depicts the Church's internal divisions in the abuse scandal through a sculpture of a priest. Two sides symbolize the conflict: the perpetrator's side, with children's handprints burned into the surface, serves as a silent indictment of the covered-up abuse. The other side, with hands and feet bound, symbolizes the struggle of dedicated priests who are restricted by protective measures. Light and shadow, bonds and branding – the sculpture visualizes the fight for change, demanding accountability, justice, and child protection. It urges society to pay attention and listen to the victims.
