Description

The painting stages a scam. A naive young man is playing cards with a man of his age who, in conspiracy with an older companion, rigged the card game. All the characters are standing around a table covered with a fine damask tablecloth. The painting is precise and descriptive in accordance with Caravaggio's artistic philosophy.

It is probably one of Caravaggio's earliest picaresque paintings.
