Lukian - contemporary paintress
Alena Savchenko, known by her artistic name Lukian, is a Serbian-based Russian artist and restorer whose work combines classical academic training with a contemporary sensitivity to light, atmosphere, and materials. She graduated from the Ilya Repin St. Petersburg State Academy of Fine Arts, one of Europe’s most prestigious art schools, where she studied painting, drawing, and traditional restoration techniques.
During her studies, she completed a professional internship at the State Hermitage Museum, working in one of its restoration workshops and gaining hands-on experience with museum-level conservation practices.
Lukian works in realism, still life, landscape, and portraiture, with a deep interest in the physical nature of paint and the history of pigments. Her paintings blend academic precision with emotional depth, often conveying a quiet, intimate atmosphere.
She has participated in numerous exhibitions and several international artist residencies and art colonies in Montenegro and Serbia. Since relocating to Serbia in 2025, she continues to develop her artistic practice, teach painting, and write articles on art materials and classical techniques.
Her works are held in private collections in Russia, Europe, and the United States.
