Maria Regina Mongiardim - contemporary paintress
I'm a Portuguese citizen, born in Lisbon, on the 4th of February of 1950.
I live in Lisbon, Portugal.
I'm divorced and mother of four children, three boys and one girl.
I'm a PhD in International Relations. I worked as a Professor at the University, in Lisbon,, and as a Diplomat.
As a Diplomat, I was posted in Spain, Switzerland, India, Israel and Lithuania.
Now, I'm retired.
Having free time to explore new occupations, at the present I'm the President of the International Academy of the Portuguese Culture.
In the midst of all my professional activities, I could have time to do what I love the most: painting.
As a painter, I prefer the abstract art. Sometimes, I also paint figurative artworks, mixing surrealism and impressionist styles.
I paint with oil or acrylic on canvas, using brushes and spatula. Depending on the style, I can use different tools.
I participated in collective art expositions, in Portugal (Lisbon, Cascais and Sesimbra) and in India (New Delhi), and also in the collective web exposition of PitturiAmo in Paris, early this year.
I had also individual expositions in Portugal (Sintra) and Spain (Vigo).
In 2010, a book was published about the 100 contemporary Portuguese painters, in which I am included.
Some of my paintings are part of individual and institutional collections.
