Biography
Michel Emile Arthur Schaillée is a Belgian visual artist based in the Anjou region in France, whose creative journey was consolidated at the Academy of Fine Arts in Aalst. After a career in consulting, an existential turning point led him to devote himself entirely to his vocation, marking the beginning of an intensive and deeply personal body of work.
His practice revolves around demanding traditional techniques, primarily oil painting and charcoal or graphite drawing. He explores portraiture and figurative compositions with great precision, seeking to convey subtle atmospheres through in-depth work on textures and light.
His work is deeply imbued with Belgian Surrealism, citing masters such as René Magritte and Paul Delvaux as major sources of inspiration. This influence manifests itself through an alliance between rigorous technical realism and a quest for symbolic depth, visible both in his equestrian scenes and in his dreamlike visions.
