Bà Bà

Description

Trying to capture in a small painting some of the animals we affectionately called our Rascal during his first year of life is not easy.

The scene is intentionally chaotic and somewhat bizarre, while the title comes naturally considering Marco's 'targeted' first attempts to indicate the presence of a dog or any animal.

During a long stop in Fortaleza, amidst cans of Antarctica and Skol, I painted "Bà Bà". Adding and modifying all the fauna present was enjoyable, even though the countryside composition inevitably results in confusion.

In this fantasy setting, everyone finds their place around our Little One: Royal Mallards, Duck with Ducklings, Tapir, Nutria, Big Cat, Tomcat, Mice, Hen with Chicks, Pheasant, Doggie, Warthog, Kid Goat, Goat, and Barn Owl.

In honor of his mother, there are Geese, while the Stork caring for its little ones reminds us of the imminent arrival of his Sister.

Is anyone missing? Of course, Marco has been called by a thousand other names, and perhaps some of these animals are hidden in the forest, but certainly the Four Camels in the background are arriving very late...

It was delightful painting and recalling all the nicknames Marco earned over the months with his behaviors, sounds, and postures. In a few days, his Sister will arrive, and I hope we will relive these beautiful moments.
