Christ's scream: "MERCHANTS OUT OF THE TEMPLE!"
Description
Jesus' shout: "MERCHANTS OUT OF THE TEMPLE!"
Jesus was not only gentle, compassionate and dedicated to love for others, but on occasion he knew how to be very hard and intransigent and therefore ready to be indignant and passionately clash over his own ideas and faith.
From the Gospel according to John (Jn 2,15-16)
Then he made a whip of cords and drove everyone out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen; he threw the money changers' money to the ground and overturned their benches, and to the dove sellers he said: "Take these things away from here and do not make my Father's house a market!".
From the Gospel according to Luke (Lu 19:45,46)
Then, having entered the temple, he began to chase away the sellers, saying to them: "It is written: 'My house is a house of prayer, but you have made it a den of thieves.'
Screen printing. Monoprint (46.8 x 67.5 cm) on white Murillo Fabriano paper 360 g/m2, 100% cellulose (50 x 70 cm). Limited Edition: 4/12 Monoprints. The pictorial effect was obtained by using a small silk-screen squeegee as if it were a spatula for painting and pouring more colors onto the frame; in particular the colours, as a chiaroscuro function, were used to give relief to the subject. Slightly out-of-register prints, small smears and irregular ink deposits are purely intentional. 4 screen printing frames were used for the work.
