Desvinculaciones (Decouplings)
Description
There is a being of higher rank watching over the other two. One of them seems to begin a detachment; the other still remains within its embrace. That detachment, however, does not fully occur, yet it is evident that two of the three wish to see beyond what they see. Are we simply speaking of a mother and her two children and one of them reaching adolescence? Are we speaking of other detachments? Are we speaking of religion and its God?
The composition is structured around three architectural elements. The higher-ranking one, in the background and maternal in nature, is represented like a veil, watching over and sheltering the other two. The second tends toward escape, but only tends—without fully wishing or being able to detach. The third, though beginning to break bonds, seems for now only to want to observe.
