I was so fascinated by the independence, power and strength of these women that I absolutely had to give them my attention and time. This picture is beautiful and it lives with the light. When the shieldmaidens linger in the shadows, they are inconspicuous, peaceful. They are at rest. But as soon as the sunlight hits them, they come to life and show themselves in their full splendour. You are magically drawn to them. But experience it for yourself... They are unique and I could never paint them so beautifully again.
