Description

In this piece, I wanted to capture not just a moment of daily life in tropical waters, but the very essence of cooperation and resilience. The central subject is a traditional dhow, a triangular sailing vessel sailing on a turquoise and cerulean sea. Five human figures are strategically positioned within the rust-colored hull; four work in unison, maneuvering the sails' masts and rigging, while a fifth figure, distinguished by a red turban, stands near the bow.

​The focus is not on individual faces, rendered with impressionistic brushstrokes, but on the collective movement and willpower of these people facing a seemingly calm sea, yet beneath a sky filled with gray and white clouds that hint at a change in the weather. The brushstrokes are bold and textural, especially in the rendering of the sail's canvas and the dark reflection on the water, creating a dynamic contrast between the boat and the broad horizon.

 It's a work that speaks of journey, of hardship, but also of a profound and silent harmony with the environment and among people. The fact that it has already been sold fills me with pride, as it means that its story and energy have resonated with someone else.
