MOROCCO
Description
TITLE OF THE WORK: MOROCCO
TECHNIQUE: OIL AND ACRYLIC ON CANVAS
DIMENSIONS: 60X30
YEAR: 2015
In this work, titled 'Morocco,' I wanted to capture not a specific physical place, but the pure emotion I associate with those lands: the vibrant heat of the red earth and the dramatic contrast with the deep blue of the desert sky.
Working on this 60x30 cm canvas, I chose a mixed media, combining the vivacity and expressive speed of acrylic with the chromatic richness and depth of oil painting. The dunes, rendered with textured brushstrokes and layered colors, seem to vibrate under an invisible sun, painted in a deep red and umber hue reminiscent of baked clay.
The human element is central, yet tiny: a small caravan of figures on foot and dromedaries winds along the ridge of a dune, while in the distance the walls of an ancient kasbah can be glimpsed. I wanted to convey a sense of vastness and isolation, the dimension of a journey through the desert.
I am delighted that this vision has I found a new home and it's already sold. 'Morocco' remains a vivid memory for me and an exploration of color as an expression of a warm and timeless atmosphere.
