Description

This painting is inspired by Parlando del naufragio della London Valour, a song by Fabrizio De André that, starting from the tragic 1970 shipwreck of the British merchant vessel, becomes a metaphor for both social and personal shipwrecks. The disaster of the London Valour, which occurred just off the coast of Genoa, symbolizes the helplessness in the face of uncontrollable forces, both natural and internal.

Originally conceived in December 2013, the painting intertwines the real tragedy with the events and characters that marked that period of my life. The faces and situations depicted correspond to the images evoked by the song, drawing parallels between the merchant ship's wreck and the inner wrecks we all may face.

Through intense colors and dynamic compositions, the artwork aims to capture the destructive power of the sea and the sense of disillusionment and helplessness that accompanies any shipwreck, whether real or symbolic. It is both a tribute to a historical tragedy and an intimate, universal reflection on human fragility.
