Rebel- I don't wait for you
by Simona Elia
Description
The painting portrays a woman in a shameless seductive attitude, appreciably confident and irreverent. Her hair studded with ornamental grafts portrays her in her contradictions. She wants/needs to introduce herself in a seductive way, meanwhile she wants to break free from relational addictions.
He wears dreadlocks iconically a symbol of rebellion and self-determination, but she follows the trends. In fact she wants to flaunt freedom and modernity but she is trapped in the logic of social symbolisms.
She wants to seduce, leading the game. She doesn't wait for his moves, she presses him, but deep down she is restless, tense. The almost contemptuous look in pokerface style in fact fully confirms all her fragility and the difficult construction of a "self" in the world.
