"Release"
Description
"Release"
Release speaks of the moment when we bring our heaviest burdens before God and allow ourselves to no longer carry them alone. Christ is portrayed with closed eyes and hands gently held around the cross, immersed in a quiet moment of prayer, surrender, and faith.
The work was created from the thought that whatever burden we carry, pain, fear, uncertainty, loss, or exhaustion, we can place it before God and ask for strength to carry what comes next. The cross becomes a symbol not only of suffering, but also of hope, compassion, and the promise that no burden has to be carried in solitude.
The soft blue and golden light surrounding the figure represents hope emerging through darkness, a reminder that even in moments when the weight feels unbearable, there can still be a place to rest, release, and trust.
Through expressive graphite drawing and subtle colour, the work explores the quiet space between suffering and hope, and the deeply human need to believe that what we cannot carry alone can be entrusted to something greater...
