Description:
In this oil on canvas work, I wanted to offer my personal and vibrant interpretation of the historic Pozzuoli Dock, one of the corners of my hometown that I feel is the most intimate, picturesque, and steeped in tradition. In the painting 1000634542.jpg, I attempted to capture the exquisitely maritime soul of this place on canvas, foregrounding the fleet of small fishing boats and moored fishing vessels. I applied the color with bold brushstrokes, using shades ranging from midnight blue to intense turquoise to capture the reflections of the water and the silent movement of the sea.
I developed the composition vertically to draw the eye toward the background, where I inserted the architectural elements that for me define the place's identity: on the right, I highlighted the whiteness of the characteristic white church overlooking the harbor, while on the left, I wanted to highlight the grandeur of the Rione Terra district, painting it with warm hues of yellow ochre and sienna. Finally, I hinted at a dynamic sky, streaked with thick clouds, to create a contrasting light capable of enhancing the volumes and color saturation of the entire scene.
