Description

The painting was born at first from the idea of wanting to represent the desperate resistance of a minority against a multitude of invaders. Later the painting evolved when I found a relationship with a dramatic historical event that happened in 1281 d.C when Kublai Khan Mongol emperor decided to invade Japan. The samurai were in clear numerical inferiority against 140,000 soldiers and 4000 ships, the outcome of the battle was obvious. But something unexpected happened, Shimpù, the divine wind, began to blow and a terrible storm swept away the Mongol fleet. Nothing is ever granted!
