Charon's scream: "WOE TO YOU, PRAVE SOULS!"
Description
Charon is the ferryman of the souls of the dead from one bank to the other of the Acheron, the river that divides the world of the living from that of the dead. (Dante Alighieri, Divine Comedy - Hell - Canto III - vv.82-84)
And here he is coming towards us by ship
an old man, white with ancient hair,
crying out: "Woe to you, wicked souls!
Dante describes him in detail: "an old man, white for ancient hair" and "with eyes of embers".
