József Kordás - contemporary painter

József Kordás is a contemporary Hungarian painter who has been actively creating art since the 1990s; his work draws on the tradition of abstract expressionism but is deeply imbued with spiritual, philosophical, and historical themes.

His painting is based on a special, entirely unique technique: he does not sketch his paintings in advance; he often works with a palette knife and large amounts of oil paint. This instinctive yet conscious creative method is so distinctive that many refer to it as the “Kordás technique.” Each of his works has philosophical and historical layers: the paintings do not merely provide an aesthetic experience, but prompt reflection on the questions of human existence, matter and spirit, the masculine and feminine principles, and creation.
