Description

On one of the slopes of Mount Jaizkibel, in Gipuzkoa, lies the Labetxu valley, overlooked by cliffs stretching between Pasaia and Hondarribia, commonly known as the coloured cliffs. Their visual impact is immediate and compelling, inviting the viewer to imagine inhabiting the landscape, even if only temporarily.

Incorporating such a wide range of seemingly contrasting colours into a single work posed a certain risk. However, the cliffs themselves provide their own balance, modulating and harmonising the palette. The resulting composition is more colour-driven than is typical in my practice, aiming to abstract the physical and sensory experience of the place.
