Noche en el Barrio (Night in the hood)
Description
An eighties piece. A neighborhood from Madrid’s Movida. At night. Eighties tones. The lights are off not because people are sleeping, but because everyone is out. It is surely a corner of Malasaña, and most of them are probably at El Penta. The neighborhood is as small or as large as one wishes to see it—like the triptych itself. That is why it can be acquired whole (preferable), or just one panel, or two. Everything works. Just like in the eighties.
Those of us who lived it know that, although sepia tones still lingered—and despite more tragic episodes than desirable—almost everything was color. For even in color there is tragedy, and even in tragedy there is color.
